The purpose of this organization is to aid graduate student members of the George Washington University American Studies department in their academic development while expanding intra-departmental cooperation and collegiality. To attend to this mission, the GSA will provide a venue for building and organizing graduate student conferences, professionalization workshops, and student social events. The group was founded with education, social, and cultural purposes in mind, aiming to be a venue where graduate students can connect, collaborate, and bolster their scholarly/professional pursuits.
