Be Seen @ BC
Boston College
Be Seen @ BC was created to fill a personally seen gap in the BC community of a space of peers to talk openly and comfortably about mental health struggles and related obstacles which college students may encounter for the first time in their life. Although resources on campus exist such as the wellness center and grief groups, they can often go unnoticed by underclassman, or simply seen too serious, when a student is looking for more peer to peer contact. The goal of Be Seen @ BC is to be that resource that students can get involved with and work to promote across campus, which provides mental health resources, education, occasional fundraising efforts, media creation, and conversation groups, so that mental health becomes prioritized from the start, rather than only after a major event occurs in a student's life. Be Seen @ BC works in conjunction with (although primarily as an independent student led organization) with the wellness center, campus ministry, the AHANA leadership council, and other on campus partners who currently do work in the areas of mental health advocacy, suicide prevention, and beyond, in order to better the quality of the organization's output and work to reach a greater number of students.
