History - Beta Kappa Chi started in 1923 at Lincoln University (PA) to provide a venue for minority scientist, who had achieved academic excellence but were not allowed to become members of other national honor societies. Legacy - In 1923, when BKX was conceived, greater than 87% of minority trained scientist attended a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI). Currently, this statistic is virtually unchanged. Opportunity - BKX provides a network of >20,000 members who are working to implement the organizational motto, "Science holds the key to the royal palace of knowledge".
