Boston College Women's Club Lacrosse
Boston College
The Boston College Women's Club Lacrosse Team competes in the New England Women's Lacrosse League. The team competes at a high level of competition within the northeast region of the country and is also nationally recognized every season. Tryouts are held in late September or early October. The team typically plays 3 or 4 local teams in the fall to scrimmage, and holds practice whenever there is field space (1 or 2 times per month). Preseason workouts and indoor practices (2-3 times a week) begin after winter break. The season begins, weather permitting, in late February or early March. The team practices for about two hours 1-3 times a week in addition to 1-2 games a week. The team also competes in out-of-state tournaments each season, which often requires long bus rides or flights for transportation. In previous seasons, the team has traveled to Texas, Penn State, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, New York, and Utah. The goal each season is to qualify for the national tournament that takes place in early May. In order to do so, the team must win the league tournament, allowing them to receive an automatic bid to the national tournament. In addition to its competitiveness, the team fosters a learning and supportive environment for student athletes. Not only does the team establish team chemistry on the field, but also creates relationships that last beyond college.
