Established over 20 years ago, Capital Funk has become a cornerstone of the DMV and GW dance community. Founded in the Spring of 2003 at George Washington University, Capital Funk celebrates the diversity that defines our region and cultivates safe spaces for dancers to be their authentic selves. When we aren’t performing or competing, we center our core values of learning and contribution. We recognize hip hop’s history and foundations. We are constantly seeking to educate ourselves and provide students and local community members with access to low-cost training opportunities. At least twice per year, we host showcases to bring together a variety of teams and dancers across DC. These events spotlight the talent and innovation found right here in our city and university.
