The Chinese Students Association (CSA) exists in the Boston College community in order to promote awareness and understanding of both Chinese culture and history while educating members on Chinese and Chinese-American social and political issues. CSA works to give students the opportunity to serve the greater Boston Chinese community through volunteer work. CSA will also work to relate its club members' struggles to that of the greater AHANA community in order to fight common issues as a united front. The role of CSA is to foster a sense of community and family, which is a fundamental aspect of the Chinese culture. The club hopes that through the connections made within the club's community and the events sponsored by CSA, Chinese students can learn to voice their opinions and better understand what it means to be Chinese or Chinese-American within the BC community. Overall, the club hopes to provide a home for all students interested in the Chinese culture as well as develop an environment in which members can freely discuss and enlighten each other about larger social, political, and educational issues pertaining to the Chinese and Chinese-American community.
