The Comic Book and Pop Culture Club or ComPop is a student life groups that allows students to gather with like-minded individuals where they can share their pop culture interests. We will hold regular meetings on different themes, and these themes will cover a variety of pop culture topics such as Marvel, DC, Anime, Video Games, Star Wars, Horror, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Gaming, and other such topics. The students decide what topics they would like to discuss. In addition to having regular meetings, we have campus events, parties, and trips. We usually have end of semester parties or Christmas parties, see plays, go to Scream Parks, participate in campus trunk-or-treats, and go to Comic Book Conventions. A little history about ComPop--The ComPop club started in 2014 when a couple of student approached advisor Vesna Tanaskoski about starting a pop culture club. We got the ball rolling and started ComPop at the Michigan City Campus. Since then, it has extended to the Valparaiso campus. Now, with advisor Vesna Tanaskoski moving to Lake County, we are hoping to start a chapter of the club at Lake County as well. ComPop Michigan City/Valpo will remain, but now we will have another branch of ComPop at Lake County as well. The more the merrier! People all over Ivy Tech want to get their Geek on with ComPop, so we are happy to accommodate them! We are looking forward to seeing what fun and excitement ComPop will bring to Lake County.
