Delta Phi Sigma
Howard University
Delta Phi Sigma Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Chapter, was founded at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. on June 28, 1991 and was incorporated on June 23, 2015. The organization was established on the basis that dental and medical professional students felt a need for a cohesive unit, whereby they could communicate with each other and work together for the needs of the Howard University professional community. The Motto “United in Excellence, Bound by Service” was accepted, and the Greek Letters were given individual significance: Delta representing Dentist, Phi representing Physician, and Sigma representing Service. In addition, official colors were accepted: Lavender representing Delta/Dentist, Green representing Phi/Physician, and Gold representing Sigma/Service as a background. Today, Delta Phi Sigma members can be found across the country as alumni of the College of Dentistry. Currently in our organization, we have 11 predoctoral members, 2 postdoctoral members, 17 faculty members, and 1 honorary member.
