About Dementia Art Therapy Alliance at GW
The Dementia Art Therapy Alliance chapter at George Washington University strives to make a difference through art and enhance the lives of individuals affected by dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. We dedicate ourselves to fostering creativity, connection, and emotional well-being through engaging artistic experiences that promote a sense of joy and mitigate the various symptoms of these conditions. We lead regular volunteering trips to a local senior care facility that we partner with to provide art therapy services through arts and crafts projects. By presenting a safe and inclusive space, we aim to empower both participants and their caregivers, promoting self-expression and shared understanding. With a strong focus on collaboration, we strive to create a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of those living with dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases.
