DGSU’s purpose is to function as an affinity group for Disabled graduate students and students interested in allyship and our mission at American University; the organization creates network of support for students on campus. DGSU is open to all students. The Disabled Grad Student Union (“DGSU”) is an organization striving for an equitable, accessible, and compassionate world where ability does not define your worth. DGSU seeks to strengthen the presence of Disabled grad students on campus through the creation of a community open to all grad students dedicated to advocating, empowering, and acting as a safe social space. DGSU’s goals include educating the AU community about issues affecting Disabled grad students, proposing actionable solutions, and representing graduate students as part of a campus-wide Disability Coalition.
