End of Line Records is a club dedicated to connecting and uplifting musical talent at Boston College. We aim to utilize musical and marketing knowledge alongside Boston College’s existing resources to connect student musicians with their audiences and each other to an effective degree. Helping students with their brands, promotions, and music distribution while remaining non-profit will help student musicians and future professionals alike curate their skills in a meaningful way. This directly enhances the Boston College experience and belief in ‘Cura Personalis’ by opening additional pathways for achievement and personal growth, complementing the more traditional tracks such as business and pre-medical studies. Although there are existing music clubs at Boston College, each holds its own niche that is significantly different from End of Line’s goals. For example, Music Guild manages equipment, rental space, and sometimes an audience for student musicians; however, it is almost exclusively performance-centered. Music Production Club has some aspects of distribution through their compilation contest, but does not assist with the branding or marketing of those songs outside of BC, while distribution is fairly limited. Additionally, there is a large focus on electronic music, and engineers who are looking to work with musicians with physical instruments are often unable to do so through the club’s focus. WZBC hosts studios for student musicians, although these efforts are usually underutilized by students. Attendance is mainly limited to the station’s leadership for logistical reasons, and the broadcast’s impact is mostly local because of the station’s limited range. We plan to strengthen Boston College’s diverse yet fractured music culture by bringing together diverse talents such as promotion, music industry knowledge, musicianship, engineering, and composition to create a multifaceted musical community. This would allow artists and those interested in music to better build relationships in many sides of music and explore musical career paths. To plan for long-term success, we have drafted an executive board structure for this organization. We will consist of a structure including: Co-Presidents, Treasurer, Creative services team (consists of promotion, event planning, branding, etc.), A&R outreach (looking for new artists), and Recording/engineering team. Activities and programs for the club include the following: Workshops on marketing, branding, and music industry structure with professors from BC and other local universities. Record Store Day, where student musicians can showcase physical prints of their music and merchandise. Seminars in the makerspace for utilizing tools like screen and garment printing, and CD burning. Album release parties for Students who put their music out through the label.  Logistically, BC has the ability to support and maintain this club through the usual avenues. No transportation is required, and no fundraising will be necessary. Students will be performing deliverables for student musicians to gain industry experience, expand their knowledge, and build their resumes. This club is not part of a larger national organization, and we acknowledge that OSI may supersede authority at any time.  In sum, End of Line Records seeks to provide students with valuable exposure to the practices and operations of the music industry, replicating in many respects the professional standards of established record labels. At the same time, the initiative is uniquely grounded in the Boston College environment, drawing upon the university’s diverse resources while fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration.
