The Forensic Science Initiative (FSI) at George Washington University is a student-led club for undergraduates who are interested in forensic science and its role in healthcare and justice! FSI explores a variety of forensic disciplines, such as crime scene investigations, forensic psychology, clinical lab sciences, forensic toxicology, DNA analysis, fingerprinting/handwriting analysis and forensic biology and chemistry, giving members a hands-on look at how scientific evidence helps to solve real world cases. The club will balance learning with fun and service. Members will attend interactive workshops, case study nights, and guest speaker events featuring professionals from forensic labs, crime scene units, and clinical diagnostics. FSI also hopes to partner with public/private organizations such as the DC Forensic Sciences Division to gain insight into real lab work and investigative processes. Volunteer work is another big part of the club’s mission. Members will run STEM outreach programs for local schools, host forensic-themed demonstrations, and participate in community service events such as blood drives and public health awareness campaigns. FSI is a space to explore forensic sciences, meet like-minded peers, and learn from experts all while giving back to the community. Whether you are interested in analyzing DNA, studying human behaviour, or solving “mystery cases”, this club is a fun and hands-on way to see how science meets justice!
