We the members of Fuyao Hanfu Association (扶摇汉服社) aspires to register Fuyao as a GW student org. Fuyao is dedicated to celebrating and promoting Hanfu, the traditional attire of the Han Chinese, as well as other ethnic clothings. Through its activities, Fuyao seeks to highlight the cultural, artistic, and historical significance of Hanfu, offering a unique space for students passionate about traditional fashion, creative expression, and aesthetic experience. Unlike other student organizations, Fuyao focuses specifically on Hanfu, combining its rich historical roots with modern artistic interpretation. This mission sets it apart from groups like the Chinese Cultural Association, which broadly emphasizes Chinese festivals and traditions. Fuyao organizes activities such as Hanfu fashion showcases, design workshops, cultural performances, and photo sessions, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the beauty of Hanfu and other ethnic clothing and their contemporary relevance. As an inclusive, women-led group, Fuyao welcomes all students who share an interest in cultural exploration and diversity. Beyond the GW campus, Fuyao strives to contribute to the greater DC community by participating in cultural festivals. By connecting students with a shared passion for Hanfu, Fuyao enriches the campus’s cultural landscape and builds cross-cultural friendships that celebrate both individuality and tradition.
