George Washington Athletes in Pre-Health is an organization aimed to provide support, resources, and guidance throughout their time as athletes and pre-health students. The pre-health track is time consuming, has a rigorous workload, and most importantly is known to take a toll on students mental health. Being an athlete as well, is time consuming and can be physically and emotionally draining. When you combine both of these scenarios, it’s easy to feel alone, stressed, and struggle from imposter syndrome. RPH’s (Revs in Pre-Health) will serve to guide incoming freshmen and anyone else along their athletic and pre-healthcare journey. RPH will provide opportunities to build up pre-healthcare resumes as well as inspire members to make the most out of their athletic collegiate career. Specifically, RPH will have volunteering opportunities, host panels of physicians that were also D1 athletes, host charity events, partner with the athletic department when needed, create a community with biweekly meetings, etc. RPH will help members use their athletic ability and journey to their advantage. We will strive to change the narrative that athletes fail to have enough time and/or resources to be a competitive medical candidate. RPH wants to emphasize the importance of knowing that there is no “one size fits all” on a pre-health journey. Everyone's path may look different and RPH wants to create a network where change is embraced.
