Founded as the Health Professions Club in 1971 at Howard, the Health Professions Society is an organization geared towards assisting pre-health students who plan on pursuing a career in the medical field. The Health Professions Society is the Howard MAPS chapter. MAPS is the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students and it represents the current undergraduate students of SNMA (The Student National Medical Association). The organization has many opportunities for students to get resources needed to help them along their medical journey. We accomplish our goals through monthly general body meetings, special medical school events, MCAT prep,  networking opportunities and academic advising. Students are able to interact with their peers and other health oriented individuals and gain valuable exposure to health professions and related fields. Through HPS, members are fully equipped to apply to medical school as well as matriculate. With ample resources as well as guidance, members are able to be the best candidates as they pursue becoming health professionals.  HPS is an organization geared towards assisting students who plan on pursuing a career in the medical field.  We have many opportunities for students to get resources needed to help them along their medical journey Monthly GBMs, special events, networking opportunities and academic advising.  Students interact with their peers and other health oriented individuals and gain valuable exposure to health professionals and related fields.
