The Japanese Cultural Association (JCA) at GWU is a student-led org that unites individuals of all backgrounds to build leadership and cultural understanding through Japanese language, traditions, and current issues. Our main goals are: To unite students at The George Washington University who have an interest in and enthusiasm for Japanese culture, language, and traditions. To foster awareness and understanding of Japanese culture in the GWU community through events. To encourage interest in multiple aspects of Japan and its culture, including but not limited to traditions, politics, society, art, language, food, etc. To provide a supportive and comfortable environment for all individuals studying Japanese language or culture. To conduct outreach to Japanese-related organizations in the Washington D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area. To promote informed engagement with contemporary and historical issues relevant to the Japanese diasporic community and other marginalized communities through educational events, cross-organizational collaboration, and cultural observance.
