Since 1993, we have been bringing at-risk preschool children and college students together through mentoring relationships to build the language and literacy skills necessary to succeed not just in school, but also in life. Learn more at www.jstart.org or apply online here! About Us Jumpstarts goal is to build literacy and language skills in young children. We do this by pairing motivated college students, called Corps members, with preschool children in caring and supportive relationships for an entire school year. Throughout the year, Jumpstart Corps members are trained in early childhood education and development, spend two afternoons a week in a preschool classroom working with their partner children on language and literacy skills, serve additional time in a preschool classroom assisting the teacher, and serve as active members of their school and ommunity.
