L'Association Haitienne was formed in 1999 by a group of Haitian students, led by Emmanuel Boursiquot, class of 2000. Mr. Boursiquot, along with other Haitian students, recognized the need for students at BC to celebrate the Haitian culture and to unite the Haitian students on campus. Over the years the organization has continued to grow and has become an integral part of the BC Community. The Haitian Association is responsible for numerous events that highlight many aspects of Haitian culture, which greatly adds to the rich and culturally diverse atmosphere of Boston College. Our mission is to increase knowledge of the unique history of Haiti and its people, to promote discussion on the contemporary, political, and social issues, and to foster a better understanding of Haitian culture. We strive to foster a bond among the Haitian students within the Boston College community as we strive to empower each other. We actively participate in Boston's Haitian community by encouraging Haitian youth to empower themselves and pursue higher education opportunities.
