The Metal Fabrication and Welding Club is designed to help students prepare for entry into the Metal Fabrication and Welding Industries as well as different apprenticeship programs. Our Metal Fabrication and Welding Club meetings gives the students the opportunity to discuss new ideas to incorporate into the metal fabrication and welding programs, also to plan new and exciting projects to fabricate in the the welding and metal fabrication labs. The club meetings also give it's student the chance to come together as a group and participate in campus activities. All these topics and more are all discussed and voted on in the meetings. We also provide pizza lunch during many of the meetings. The Metal Fabrication and Welding club offers a variety of shop projects that provide it's volunteer club members the opportunity to reinforce and develop their skill as a General Metal Fabrication Technician, Welder, and Sheet Metal Mechanic, which generates funds to support the club and earn cool metal fabrication club gear. Our club funds sponsor field trips to the Los Angeles Sheet Metal Workers Training Center in El Monte. This Training Center is operated by the Los Angeles/Orange County Sheet Metal Workers JATC Local 105. It sponsors a five year apprenticeship training program, where apprentices work full-time in the construction industry along with supplemental classroom training. The Metal Fabrication and Welding Club's goals are to help the student achieve their academic goals (LBCC Certificate, A.S. Degree, Transfer) as well as transition into a successful career in metal fabrication trades and a brighter future. Meeting Days, Time, Location: Thursdays, 12-1pm, II-126
