Midwest Society of Boston College
Boston College
Midwestern Society of Boston College aims at building a community that unites, celebrates, and bonds in the unique spirit, history, and culture of America’s Heartland--The Midwest. The main purpose of the club is to build an appreciation for the Midwest. The Midwest is the regional minority when it comes to Boston College’s student geographic distribution (Class of 2024 statistics), but is a great part of identity for many students on the Heights. The Midwest has long been considered "flyover territory", resulting at times in a dismissal of the character, strengths and uniqueness of the cities in the Midwest that this small minority of BC students identify with. A club celebrating the history, geography, food, economics, and people of the Midwest and its impact and importance as the center of the United States will create a more knowledgeable, open minded and unified student body.
