The Mu Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on April 20th, 1975 on the campus of the George Washington University by nine dynamic women. It was the first Black greek lettered organization at the George Washington University. Founded on January 13, 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was established by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need. The first public act performed by the Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women's Suffrage March (March 1913; Washington, D.C.). Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930, and the women of this organization have never strayed from the mission their founders created, which is now their legacy.
