Musical Theatre Wing
Boston College
The Boston College Musical Theatre Wing is an organization that strives to foster appreciation and dedication for musical theatre. The group aims to realize this by giving Boston College students a wealth of opportunities for musical theatre performance, both on and off campus. The performances on campus will be in the form of cabarets at multiple venues with a variety of themes and performers. Events will reach all of BC's campuses as well, making use of space on Main Campus, Newton, and Brighton. The off campus performances will take the form of service outreach, upholding BC's mission of ‘Men and Women for Others,’ by bringing the cabarets to venues like schools and nursing homes in nearby communities. Here, the group members will not only be able to cultivate their passion for musical theatre, but also be able to bring that passion to the greater community, enriching the lives of others with their gifts, and using their talents to match the world's needs. The Musical Theatre wing also hopes to serve as a means of education for BC's community, organizing events like workshops, Q&A panels with working professionals, and discounted musical theatre outings. The group will have a board of members who serve as officers and organizers, keeping tabs on performance production, finances, marketing, etc. Most importantly the board will serve as a strong leadership team, working hard to bring MT Wing's goals to fruition. Outside of the board, MT Wing will have open auditions for each of its performances, encouraging the entire BC community, both inside and outside of the established theatre community, to join the performance and service opportunities. The educational events will be open to all students, and the group will encourage diversity in the events' participants, hoping to bring musical theatre education to the widest group of people possible.
