Scholars of Finance is a rapidly growing national organization on a mission to inspire character and integrity in the finance leaders of tomorrow. We seek to solve the world’s largest problems by investing in undergraduate students through leadership development, mentorship, and the active support of hundreds of purpose-driven finance executives and investors. Our members then join top firms, funds, and a life-long support community that empowers them to spend their careers serving the greater good using the biggest lever in the world: finance. After the Scholars of Finance national team reached out to us to expand their presence in the top universities in the US, we were delighted to be approved by them to start a GWU chapter of Scholars of Finance. Our Vision: A future where all finance leaders steward the world's capital to serve the greater good. Our Mission: To inspire character and integrity in the finance leaders of tomorrow. Since our primary focus is to espouse ethics, integrity, and stewardship among the finance leaders of tomorrow, we orient conversations around how to uphold these values at home, at work, and while making investment decisions. While these discussions are held within the context of our organization, we believe the truths we uncover apply universally to all aspects of a leader’s life. Below are the team values that make us effective as an organization. At Scholars of Finance, our values are fundamental to us. When the founding team developed them, it was through a process of weeks of introspection, discussion, and dozens of hours of debate. We arrived at a set of values and behaviors that we can all strive to uphold. We have ongoing discussions about our values and even offer each other 360° feedback with our values as a touchstone. Our Core Values are Integrity, Compassion, Humility, Curiosity, Impact, Courage. Below are the programs we host at GWU Speaker Series: Our Speaker Series enables students to hear and learn from some of the finance industry's most ethical, values-driven leaders. Mentorship: Our Mentorship Program creates 1:1 relationships between students and astute finance professionals in our network. Leadership: Our Leadership Development Program is a seven-week course built for self-discovery that helps our students learn and live by their values. Symposia: Our Symposia brings together students and professionals for a mix of panel discussions and keynote speeches focused on our values. Technical Training: Our Technical Training, provided in partnership with Training The Street, teaches in-demand, workplace-ready skills for careers in finance. Values Forum: Students engage in introspection to articulate their personal values with their peers while considering Scholars of Finance's six core values and the role of values in finance.
