The Council consists of elected and/or appointed representatives who meet regularly to discuss matters of ongoing importance and to organize special events for the student body and the administration. The purpose of the Council is to further the academic interests of graduate students, to foster a rigorous learning environment, and to develop strong professional ties between students and faculty. SIS Graduate Student Council is open to all students. American University student organizations shall not discriminate in membership or benefits on the basis of any individual’s personal identity or characteristics, including but not limited to race, color, national origin (or shared ancestry), religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
