Students in the Nursing program at Ivy Tech learn to care for real patients in a variety of clinical settings throughout the program including lab simulations, long-term care, hospital, labor and delivery units, pediatric units, emergency department, ICU, surgery, and mental health facilities. Depending on how far you go in your education, you’ll be qualified to: Monitor vital signs, bathe and dress patients, assist with repositioning and walking (Pre-Nursing Studies Certificate) Perform wound care, monitor vital signs, administer medications, collect specimens, and address patient concerns as a collaborative member of the health care team. (Practical Nursing Technical certificate) Assess patients, perform various treatments, assist in diagnostic testing, and provide holistic support and health education to patients and families as a care team manager.
