The purpose of the Special Olympics Club at American University is to connect American students and individuals with intellectual disabilities through a unified sports league and participation in local Special Olympic events. We will create natural friendships and connections between partners and athletes to bridge the gap created by societal norms. This will foster friendships, promote the inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities, and build a more accepting campus. Special Olympics AU is open to all studentsAmerican University student organizations shall not discriminate in membership or benefits on the basis of any individual’s personal identity or characteristics, including but not limited to race, color, national origin (or shared ancestry), religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
