The purpose of The Dialectic at LBCC is to foster a space for intellectual engagement and professional development through discussion, debate, and skill-building. The club provides students with opportunities to explore social, political, and academic topics in a respectful and thought-provoking environment. By hosting weekly meetings with structured debates, forums, and workshops, The Dialectic aims to equip members with the tools necessary to engage critically with their fields, navigate professional spaces, and connect with experts. Activities may include guided discussions, skill-building sessions on networking and career preparation, and collaborative projects that enhance students’ academic and professional trajectories. The club’s ultimate goal is to host conference-style events featuring professors and graduate students from local universities, providing members with direct exposure to advanced academic discourse and professional networking. Through these initiatives, The Dialectic seeks to create meaningful opportunities for students, especially those in underrepresented majors, to gain valuable experience and build their futures. We also host "Transfer Talks" where we invite former transfer students and the provide a deep dive on both their transfer/application experience and advice to how to best navigate university life as a transfer student.
