The idea for the eating disorder support club came after identifying a real struggle when transitioning from home life to independent college life. A lack of structure and support systems that comes with college results in feeling chaotic and returning to old maladaptive behaviors (ie. restriction, binging). The eating disorder support club is open to all students and aims to provide resources on campus to help build support systems and productive coping skills for times of distress. Further, creating a community of people with similar struggles aids in feeling less alone and at peace in an ever changing community. American University student organizations shall not discriminate in membership or benefits on the basis of any individual’s personal identity or characteristics, including but not limited to race, color, national origin (or shared ancestry), religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
