The Pericles Institute at American University
American University
The Pericles Institute is the first and only undergraduate-run foreign affairs think tank based at American University. Named for the great Athenian general during the Peloponnesian War, we seek to embody his keen strategic thought and admiration for our democratic system. Between international conflict, emerging technology, and public health emergencies, the world we live in faces many contemporary challenges. These issues come amidst rising global tensions and a lack of diplomatic cooperation, reminding us of the need for thoughtful and prudent leaders. The Pericles Institute aims to sharpen the next generation of diplomats, analysts, and scholars to address those pressing global challenges. We publish op-eds from our fellows under a broad definition of “international relations,” alongside periodic events, guest speakers, and professional development. The Pericles Institute is open to all students. American University student organizations shall not discriminate in membership or benefits on the basis of any individual’s personal identity or characteristics, including but not limited to race, color, national origin (or shared ancestry), religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
