★ The Reading Group is a club that meets on a weekly basis to read and discuss challenging, intellectual, and enjoyable texts that generally come from “Great Books” lists. The ultimate goal is to slow down the learning process so that we might achieve what Bernard Lonergan has called “intellectual self-appropriation.” Not only do we learn about the great books of Western culture, but we also learn about learning, and thereby, about ourselves. ★ We meet weekly at 7pm (typically in Stokes); we read out loud and then discuss, so no extra reading added to your course load! Each semester, we take any and all book suggestions from members and vote on which we would like to read. Last semester, we read The Secret Life of Addie La Rue and Middle Game! Other books we’ve read include Breakfast of Champions, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Picture of Dorian Gray and A Thousand Splendid Suns.  Follow our instagram, @readinggroupbc, for meeting updates! ★ ALL are welcome to join us -- bring your creativity and passion for anything from Percy Jackson to the Brothers Karamozov! ★ We’re not fancy intellectuals. Just some lads who like to read stories.
