Timmy Global Health GWU essentially empowers GW students to provide more access to healthcare for the underserved DC communities and Montecristi in the Dominican Republic. Timmy GW is a chapter of the umbrella national organization, Timmy Global Health (TGH). TGH is an independent, non-partisan 501C3 organization aimed to empower students to make a meaningful difference in access to healthcare both locally and globally by advocating, fundraising, and serving. Timmy GW would translate these operations to provide for the DC community and our global partner, Banelino. Banelino is a public health/medically focused organization in Montecristi. Banelino consists of a group of banana-farm producers who have had the resources to build a medical center and provide their underserved Montecristi community with doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and medical supplies. TGH financially supports these operations and completely covers patients in need of special medical care. Timmy GW would help provide TGH the money to support Banelino by fundraising at least $3,000 a year. Timmy GW would also support Banelino through advocacy pertaining to public health issues in Montecristi and traveling to Montecristi for a yearly medical service trip. The other half of Timmy GW's operations will include advocacy, fundraising, and service for the DC community. First, to advocate for DC's underserved communities, Timmy GW has been and continues to raise awareness about local health issues within DC and U.S. through our social media accounts. Second, we would raise money for local service organizations in DC that have already been serving minority and disadvantaged communities in the greater DC area. And lastly, we plan to focus immensely on volunteering in DC through our own service events and participating in local service through the DC Medical Reserve Corps, Bread for the City, Mary’s Center, and more prominent organizations in DC. The goal of all of our operations is to ultimately provide under-serviced and under-resourced communities including our own with more access to healthcare. Each and every one of our operations will strictly abide by this goal.
