Voices of Imani is a gospel choir created to celebrate the viability, potency, and beauty of African-American religious music. The choir has not only served as a source of spiritual inspiration, but also a needed source of unity and strength among students of color and the Boston College community as a whole. The repertoire of the group is reflective of the breadth of musical expression in the black worship experience, such as spirituals, traditional gospel, and contemporary gospel. The choir is open to all regardless of vocal, racial, or religious background and is a safe space for everybody on campus. The "Gospel Music Workshop" 1-credit course can also be taken alongside membership with Voices of Imani, which includes vocal performance and learning about the history of spirituals and gospel music.
