Women in Economics (WIE) is a student-run organization dedicated to supporting and empowering women within the Boston College Economics Department and creating a community of a historically underrepresented group interested in pursuing a career within the field of economics. WIE welcomes students from all backgrounds and gender identities to participate in events. Our goal is to foster an inclusive, formational environment at Boston College where students can thrive academically, socially, and professionally, supported by a network of mentorship and peer support.   While groups such as Women in Business support students across all disciplines in finance, business, and economics, WIE is uniquely positioned to design and provide tailored resources, networking events with BC economics alumni, tutoring and peer support for coursework, and programming that connects members to research and career pathways within the field. Within a fairly male-dominated field, we aim to create a community where women feel welcome and empowered. Through programming, networking with alumni, and peer collaboration, WIE advances the mission and values of Boston College by cultivating a supportive, inclusive space dedicated to supporting women to grow as scholars, leaders, and individuals.
